Blackberry season in Sweden

Blackberries are a rare sight in Sweden, at least in the wild. When I lived in England it was abundant, so imagine my delight when I found the biggest blackberry bushes I’ve ever seen when we visited Gotland two years ago! Now, we have a few regular places we go every year on the island to pick berries that lasts us through the winter.

I usually make jam out of it, and this year is no different. I only use berries and a few tablespoons of sugar and cook it for about 10-15 minutes (depending on how runny/solid you like your jam). But my favourite part is to eat them straight from the bushes while they’re still warm from the sun.
